Most people find that moving eventually exceeds their budget by considerable amounts. This is because we don’t pay attention to the nitty-gritty of moving. If you want to have a good control on costs you need to strategize the moving.

Here are some simple tips:

Never choose a mover because he is friendly or close by. Make a comparison of costs by asking for estimates from at least three movers and checking the estimates carefully to ensure there are no hidden costs.

Ensure that the mover does not hand over a vague agreement with a lot of convoluted terms. He must give you a guaranteed not to exceed estimate. The estimate should include details of licenses, permits, shipping costs, insurance, packing , storage and so on.

Don’t just pack all you have. Make time to take an inventory and determine what essentials are and what sentimental things are. If you can find out how much space your new home will have and the climate of the region. Put aside emotions and decide to take only essentials. If your home is owned by you, consider renting it out partially furnished, or give away things to charity, or put into storage. The fewer the things to be moved the lower the movers bill will be.

Reduce the bill by packing unbreakable things yourself. Find out if this is acceptable to the mover’s terms and conditions. Let the movers pack breakable and valuable items.

Purchase special packing boxes wholesale this will cut costs considerably. If your move is planned well in advance you could collect empty cartons to pack unbreakable items and books from the local merchant.

If you are moving close by you could consider handling the move yourself by using au-haul.

Costs can be reduced if you use old newspapers, blankets, sheets and t-shirts as packing material instead of buying bubble wrap for everything.

Packing tape, rope, and string should be purchased whole sale.

Calculate the costs of flying as against driving down and incurring expenses of overnight stay as well as food and beverage.

Find out whether you will get any tax relief on moving expenses and purchase of insurance.

Create a budget that includes mover’s estimate, packing, travel, stay, food and beverage as well as any other expenses you can think off against each entry mark what can be avoided and what is essential. Go over your notes with a professional mover or consultant.

If you can plan on moving off season this will reduce costs but create problems like school admissions and so on if you have children moving with you. Moving off season according to moving experts cuts costs by as much as 20%. Similarly one can save money by choosing to move in the middle of the month rather than beginning or end. Studies indicate that on an average an American moves at least 11 times in his life and the American Moving and Storage Association estimates that moving a nine room house from DC to LA would cost nearly US$ 12, 000 and more.

Be smart check estimates for “extras” you can do without. Trim costs but don’t loose on essentials like breakage insurance.

It always seems bizarre that those people who have cleaners who work at home usually seem to keep their home cleaner than those who don’t. Making sure that the room is neat and tidy before the cleaners arrive seems to be a strange waste of time. Yet, not only is it polite and helpful to assist the people who do keep the rooms tidy, but it will also help in some small way to ensure that if you are a repeat visitor, you are more likely to receive a level of service which is of particularly good quality.

Since it is your own belongings which are to be tidied, it is of little trouble to spend a few minutes at the end of your trip, sorting out one or two quick things in your room to save the cleaners both time and trouble.

The first and most obvious point, of course, is to make sure that you have all of your things with you. It is quite easy to leave items behind in drawers and particularly things that may have fallen down the back of units or cabinets. When cleaners make the bed during your stay they will usually remove sheets and blankets and shake these and in so doing it can be the case that small items and pieces of paper are knocked or blown down the back of the bedside cabinet. So check carefully to make sure that you have all of your things with you.

Also, the bedding can be sorted out by yourself in just a moment. Usually the blankets and top cover are left as they are, but by removing both sheets and all the pillow cases, and then stuffing all of these into one pillow case and leaving it in the middle of the room will help the cleaners significantly, and if you have already made yourself known to the cleaners they will be highly appreciative.

In the bathroom, make sure you have taken all of your bottles and cosmetics you intend to take, and anything you don’t want, leave in the bin. If you have small children with you, make sure that dirty nappies are sealed into proper nappy disposable bags and not just slung into the bin. Not only is this particularly unpleasant for the cleaner, but it is likely to generate an odor that permeates the entire suite, and will be difficult to get rid of. Whilst you yourself may have, over many months, become quite accustomed to the scent of your little one, the subsequent resident may not be quite as sympathetic. It is remarkable how quickly such a smell can spread.

It goes without saying that toilets should always be flushed and towels left with the sheets and pillow cases. One point often forgotten is the sign on the door handle of your room. Often people leave a ‘do not disturb’ sign on the outside handle of their door whilst they are packing their cases, but then after leaving the room it is easy to forget that it is still hanging there. A door with a sign on it will mean that the cleaners will be unable to access it, and this will delay them from attending to the room by some considerable time, by which time they will begin cursing you. So always make sure that when you have finished with your room, you remove this sign and return it to the inside of the room.

Depending upon the weather, it is also a nice gesture to open the window slightly and let the room breathe after your stay. These are all simple and quick points that are based more upon courtesy and good manners than anything else, but can make quite a difference. It is surprising how well cleaning staff at hotels remember both the good and the bad residents and alter their cleaning regime accordingly. Invest in your future service wisely by carrying out these steps at the end of your visit.

Choosing the ceramic tile for your own home is the greater problem than you could think, because ceramic tile is more durable than most any other wall or floor covering. Selecting ceramic tile, you create the whole atmosphere in your home for a long time. So, how to choose ceramic tile in Arizona?

Quality then, is just as important a consideration as the wear rating is, for a number of reasons. First, when the installer considers the lay-out of a particular job, his first priority should be setting the individual pieces as close as what is reasonable. Grout joints are required in all floor applications, with anything 1/4 inch or smaller acceptable. At no time should squares be butted together, for when the floor settles (and they all do) shearing (coming up off the floor) and buckling will occur.

At any rate, let’s say each of the pieces are consistent in size with one another. This is a good thing, for because they are calibrated well, the installer can set a close joint (lets say 3/16 of an inch or even a little closer) and all of the grout lines will be uniform. It’s not unusual though for a poor quality line to have squares within the same shipment and dye lot vary as much as an 1/8 of an inch from one another. Calibration is terrible (some would say unacceptable) and the end result will be larger and considerably more inconsistent size grout lines.

Consistently square edges will translate into consistently square grout lines. Warped edges, such as those found in a poorer quality selections, will mean grout lines that get wider and narrower along each individual piece, as well as lippage in the floor. Lippage is when you run your hand over the floor and discover height differences from one piece to the other.

Installers have to be much more selective in deciding which pieces to install and which to set aside when dealing with poorer quality choices. This slows down the job considerably, ultimately costing the installer not only time but money. Installers are not magicians, and cannot make that which is crooked and warped, straight. They can only deal with the variables that are present and make the best of it.

The lesson here is clear. For your ultimate happiness and satisfaction, choose something with a reputation for excellent quality and consistency. In the end, everyone benefits. You will be pleased with a product that is sure to give you years of satisfaction and looks absolutely beautiful on your floor, and your installer will be pleased with being able to pull all of the various elements together and successfully create that showroom look for you.

Ceramic tile floors have become much more popular with consumers today, and this is in large part due to the vast improvements that have been made not only in their design and color, but also the strength at which they are being manufactured. The industry has evolved tremendously from the days of the nubby soft pink bisque and primitive glazing techniques similar to the 8 by 8 Pergamina (ancient by today’s standards).

Why Organic Food is More Expensive

Most people believe that because organic food is all naturally grown and thus better for us, it is more expensive. There are no chemicals or pesticides used so it should cost less. That makes perfect sense doesn’t it? Well the frightening truth is organic foods are more expensive because organic farms are not government subsidized, as the chemically laden agriculture industry is. Food shortages during the aftermath of world War II, caused many governments, including the U.S., to start subsidizing the use of growth hormones and other chemicals in farming. At the time the world needed food as fast as possible, and with the help of chemistry we prevented starvation and famine in Europe and other war stricken areas.

What started as a noble cause, however,  has over decades proven to have overstayed its welcome. Huge rotting surpluses of food since the 1970’s has confirmed that production from intensive farming is not working. Today our food contains not only growth hormones, but an arsenal of toxic chemicals in the form of pesticides, insecticides, antibiotics, fertilizers and a whole host of other toxic artificial additives, flavorings, colorings and preservatives. Modern agriculture is like the junkie who has to take a pill to stay alert, and than pops another to get some sleep. We have flooded our food with so many chemicals that we need more chemicals to get some taste and color back. Let us not forget that these additives are bad for you as well.

Here is to a Healthy Life

How to Get Healthy Affordable Food
So for those of you who can afford to pay extra for food that is better, more tasty, and abundant in vitamins, nutrients, and minerals, here’s to a healthy life. For those of you who are just happy when your favorite grocery store has a sale, trusting that what you are buying is good for you, there is hope. After years of eating supermarket food and other fast foods your body begins to store all of the toxins and chemicals. These toxins can affect your body in many ways. Unless you live on a farm or have access to one, the chance of you procuring naturally fed meat and poultry is very slim, unless you are willing or able to pay the extra price.
